Happy Thanksgiving

Today I am thankful for the simple things. Food, shelter, good health, and people that love me.

A week of Thanksgiving

source

I am so glad Thanksgiving is just a few days away. It is my favorite holiday. I love spending time with family without the stress of buying presents. The weather has been so nice the last few days and I'm really looking forward to, maybe, getting to sleep past 6:30 at least one day this week (that's a big maybe).
I have so much to be thankful for this year. I'm healing incredibly well from surgery. Hard to believe how much better I feel just 7 weeks later. It's been almost a month since I've needed any pain medicine which is a HUGE deal for me. My photography business is going well. I'm busier than I ever thought I'd be, but it's such a blessing to get paid for something I love to do. I also start a new part time job this week. It's just a seasonal retail job but it's extra money and I only have to work a few hours a week.
I hope the rest of you are able to stop and think about all you have to be thankful for. It really is a wonderful time of year.

Before & After

We've declared war at our house.....a war on allergens. My husband and daughter both have really bad allergies. A few weeks ago my super handy husband decided to pull up the carpet (where dust mites like to live) and put down wood floors. He did it all by himself and I love it. The rooms feel so much bigger and cleaner.

I still have some decorating to do in my bedroom but for now I'm enjoying the simplicity of it.

Halloween highlights

As a kid I never really liked Halloween. The church I went to had a "fall festival" instead and we were only allowed to dress up as a bible character or an animal that would have been on Noah's Ark. Most years I wore the same pillowcase dress and head wrap and changed my name to Mary, Esther, or Ruth. It just wasn't much to get excited about.
Once I had Katie I was so excited to let her be whatever she wanted. This year it was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. My mother-in-law is a talented seamstress and made the costume for her. It was perfect and Katie kept saying, "I look just like her." So sweet.
Yesterday afternoon we decided to take a few pictures around town all dressed up. It was so much fun.

Down the yellow brick road

Hey there Mr. Scarecrow

We had Toto too.

I'm glad we're able to make these memories together. What's your favorite Halloween memory?
